About Dr Kosalram

Dr Kirthi Kosalram

DCD (PROSTHODONTICS), BDS, FRACDS (GEN), MRACDS (PROS), ITI (Fellow)

Dr Kirthi Kosalram graduated in India and received her Doctorate in Prosthodontics(DCD) from the University of Sydney(2013). She went on to teach prosthodontics at the Universities of Melbourne and Sydney. Kirthi practices in Kew, Victoria. Kirthi has a keen interest in cosmetic rehabilitations, fixed, implant and maxillofacial prosthodontics.
She actively lectures and conducts workshops on implantology, fixed prosthodontics, veneers, onlays, crowns, cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry.

Kirthi is a registered ITI speaker and director of the ITI Melbourne Inner-East study club. She was awarded a Fellowship to the International Team for Implantology for her services to the organisation. Kirthi is often contacted to provide opinions on complex dental cases/ scenarios by general dentists and dental specialists.

Kirthi is a supporter of the Peter MacCallum cancer foundation and takes a keen interest in the organisation’s research activities.

In addition, Kirthi provides prosthodontic services to victims of domestic violence through the Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF).

Outside of work, Kirthi enjoys travelling, fashion, reading, documentaries/movies and spending time with her family.

John Lucas

John Lucas is the sole director and ceramist of Intra Oral Technologies in Melbourne, Australia.

His boutique laboratory situated in Malvern East specialises in complex implant, crown and bridge restorative work and aims to achieve the highest aesthetic outcomes. The laboratory incorporates a digital design and milling workflow for high accuracy and predictability.

John completed his apprenticeship in 1983 at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital and won ‘Apprentice of the year’. In 1994 he completed a 2-year Diplomacy of Dental Science. He has been mentored by master technicians from Australia, Switzerland, Germany and Japan gaining valuable experience in the art of ceramics.

John has been a Dental Ceramist for 33 years and works alongside some of the most respected clinicians in Melbourne and Canberra. His 28 years of experience with dental implants has allowed him to showcase his restorations to the highest standard.

John is a Fellow of the prestigious International Team of Implantology (ITI). He has lectured nationally and internationally for Straumann, Australia and the ITI. He lectures to the post-graduate students at Melbourne University on an annual basis and is a member of the Brighton ITI Study Club.

Rowan Pollock

Rowan began his Dental Technology apprenticeship at RMIT in 1977.

Rowan completed the course in 1979, winning the RMIT ‘Outstanding Dental Technician’ Award.

In 1984, he was awarded a Victorian Overseas Foundation scholarship and worked in Cologne, Germany between 1984-1989.

Rowan returned to Melbourne in 1991 after working in Sydney for two years and opened a Crown and Bridge laboratory in Camberwell.

In 2010, Rowan completed an Associate Diploma in Dental Prosthetics at RMIT University.

What treatments or services can Melbourne East Prosthodontics provide?

Dr Kosalram and her team provide a wide range of treatments from simple to complex dentistry. Utilising the latest technology, your smile is designed to help you achieve the confidence you’ve always desired. Dental restorations such as veneers, crowns, bridges, dental implants and dentures are used for cosmetic and aesthetic rehabilitations and replacements. In addition, we routinely manage complex cases including full mouth rehabilitations, multiple partial coverage crowns to open the bite, implant bridges and all-on-4 fixed implant rehabilitations. All of our work is carried out at a specialist level thus giving our patients the best outcomes and follow up care.

Why would I need to see a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are specifically trained to perform complex, cosmetic, aesthetic and implant dentistry. Viewed as industry leaders, they often provide education through lecturing/ workshops to dental graduates and dentists. You may choose to seek the services of a Specialist Prosthodontist if you require an opinion or management of the following conditions:

  • Severely worn teeth requiring cosmetic and aesthetic rehabilitations 
  • Stained, discoloured, spaced/ crowded, worn and/ or chipped teeth that require restorations

How experienced is your Prosthodontist?

Dr Kosalram is a registered Specialist Prosthodontist and has been working in the area of implants, reconstructive dentistry and prosthodontics since 2009. Her past experience includes over 20 years of general practice since graduation(2000) and 11 years in specialist practice (2009). Dr Kosalram lectures and conducts workshops for general dentists and undergraduates at Melbourne and Sydney universities, dental study groups and for the International Team for Implantology (ITI) for which she was awarded a fellowship. Dr Kosalram is often called upon to provide lectures and workshops at dental meetings including second opinions on complex cases.
